This charming, cottage-like, Bernal Heights home has small rooms and required staging in order to show usability of the space. Our traditional rug and mission-style wood tables compliment the style and finishes. Our smaller-scaled seating gives the illusion of enlarging the space. Additionally, we keep accessories minimal to keep the look uncluttered and spacious while still accentuating the personality of the home.
The formal dining room of this home also required small-scale furniture in order to keep it spacious. We chose traditional wood furniture in order to accentuate the flooring and compliment the cottage-like nature of the space. Our table settings and floral arrangement really work well here to give a homey feel. The matching buffet/wine rack finishes the look perfectly showing the capacity for additional storage in this room while not overcrowding the space.
We love this spacious kitchen with center work table. Here, we accessorize in lime green, chrome, black and white in keeping with the existing finishes. Overall, the look is inviting and retro/modern which adds a layer of texture to the home.
Who wouldn't like to luxuriate in this sunken tub? We added burgundy and gold accessories, lots of towels, candles, and bath soaps in order to compliment the 'spa-like' nature of the space.
After floor-planning this master bedroom, we realized that there wasn't much space to spare so we didn't use a headboard or footboard (the door swing would have been compromised). We Then added a mirror over the bed to give the room some depth. At either side of the bed, we found we could add a bench and vanity/shelving unit in order to show potential buyers that there would be addequate room for additional furnishings.
We chose to make this upstairs open space into a home office in order to give a template for the use of the space. Here, we once again keep with the nature of the home by adding a wood desk and chair and matching small seating area. We added bright colored artwork and accessories to give the space a 'sunny' feeling and coordinated it to the adjacent small, attic bedroom.
For the 'attic' bedroom space, we used a futon to keep the bed low to the ground because the ceiling is very low. We added wicker drum table/ottoman nightstands and bright, sunny bed linens to give the room a comfortable, fun look. Because of the slant of the walls, it wasn't possible to add artwork here so the linens were chosen in order to compensate for this lack. This room is now fun and inviting.
On the deck, we simply tidied up, opened the umbrella and added candles to the homeowner's lanterns to give a more inviting look.
As with most bathrooms, what a difference a floral arrangement and a few accessories can make!
